He was born March 13, 1926, in Randolph County, a son of Earl Monroe and Elizabeth Weaver Allred. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II. He spent 40 years in the trucking industry and was a owner, operator until he retired in 1985. He was a former member of the New Market Civitan Club and was of the Baptist faith.
He loved his family and friends and anyone who knew him would always remember his sense of humor. On June 3, 1950, he married the former Christine Love, who survives of the residence. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jewel Watson and two brothers, Lawrence Allred and Jay Allred.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Sharon Allred Faust and her husband, Ron, of Jamestown and Mrs. Christi Allred Noren and her husband, Darryl, of Charlotte; a son, Carl Allen Allred and his wife, Judy, of Archdale; seven grandchildren, Carl Allen Allred II of High Point, Alison Allred McGee of Archdale, Caroline Faust, Daniel Faust and Sarah Faust, all of Jamestown, Cameron Noren and Chloe Noren, both of Charlotte; three sisters, Florence Matthews of Thomasville, Hortense Sykes of Archdale and Ann Boyles of Greensboro; and a brother, Hansel Allred of Archdale.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Glenola Baptist Church by the Rev. Doug Davis and the Rev. Danny Sykes. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale.
Pallbearers will be Barry Bennett, Dennis Clodfelter and nephews, Dean Allred, Marvin Allred, Terry Boyles and Scotty Boyles.
