LENNA B. "SIS" ARNOLD, 89, a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, 6:20 p.m., at Wood-view Health-care, Inc. Born Oct. 29, 1920, daughter of John E., Sr. and Marie (Klemm) Arnold, she was a 1939 graduate of Central High School, Ball State University and IU. She taught 35 years for Fort Wayne Community Schools, at Central and Northrop High Schools, retiring from Northrop in 1978. Very active in sports, she played professional baseball for the Fort Wayne Daisies, softball for Uhligs Machine Shop, and basketball for City Light. She also participated in golf, skiing, bowling, and enjoyed IU basketball. She especially enjoyed spending summer's at her lake cottage on Sylvan Lake and traveling throughout the U.S. in a motor home. She was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church and its Altar Guild. She is survived by her special friend, Fran C. Nash; nephew, John E. (Michele) Arnold III; niece, Rosemarie (Rob) Bouman; great-nephews, Benjamin and Nicholas Arnold; and great-niece, Jessica Burget. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, John E. Arnold II. Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Wayne Street Chapel, 420 West Wayne Street. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Memorials to a charity of donor's choice.
