ANDERSON, SC - Mr. Robert Laylon Shirley Jr., age 79, husband of Betty Evans Shirley, of 205 Westwind Road, Anderson, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at the Anderson Area Medical Center in Anderson.
Born in Anderson on Nov. 10, 1924, Mr. Shirley was a son of the late Robert L. Shirley Sr. and Gussie Poore Shirley. He was the manager of Anderson Auto Parts in Easley for 43 years. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Evans Shirley, of the home; a brother, David A. Shirley, of Anderson; a sister, Margaret Erskine, of Anderson; two grandsons, Bryan Shirley of Anderson, and Chris Shirley of West Union; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Shirley.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with the Revs. Paul Langston and Bob Marcaurelle officiating. Interment will follow at Old Silverbrook Cemetery, Anderson.
The body is at The McDougald Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Dec. 2, 2003.
The family will be at the residence: 205 Westwind Road, Anderson.
