Word was received here Tuesday of the death of Mrs. Orrin Burgess, which occurred that morning at the home of her son, Nelson, near Elkhart, Iowa.
Mrs. Burgess, whose maiden name was Reynolds, was born in New York state November 21, 1817, and had accordingly passed her 88th birthday.
When yet a small girl her parents moved to Wayne county, IN., and there she met and was married to Orrin Burgess. Fifty years ago the couple came to this locality, and purchased the farm northwest of town, where they resided until the demise of Mr. Burgess five years ago last June.
Since the death of her husband Mrs. Burgess has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Allen, making occasional extended visits with the other sons and daughters. Two years ago she last visited her daughters and the old home here, remaining two months.
She died at the home of her son, Nelson, of the infirmities of old age.
