John D. Dangel

1911-2010

Age 98, of Wilmington, DE, and a resident of Rockland Place, died on Wednesday, January 27, 2010.

He was the 4th of 5 children of the late Adolph G. and Elizabeth Maier Dangel. Mr. Dangel was a member of the Wilmington business community for many years, working at the Danforth Wholesale Drug Co., at 3rd and Market Sts., Kleitz Jewelers at 8th and Market Sts. and the George D. Hanby Office Furniture Store on Shipley St. He was also active for over 50 years in fraternal affairs, was an Officer of the Eden Lodge No. 34, Order of Odd Fellows and was a member of the Church Council of Zion Lutheran Church, both in Wilmington.

John's wife, Helen Jones Dangel, died in 1972. John is survived by 5 nephews, Robert G., Charles J. and Richard J. Dangel and William H. and John R. Day. He was predeceased in by his nephew, Raymond K. Dangel and niece, Elizabeth Day Cadora.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 1, at 11 am, at Zion Lutheran Church, 2101 Lancaster Ave., Wilmington, DE 19805, where friends may call after 10 am. An Odd Fellow service will be held at 10:45 am. Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions to the Zion Lutheran Church.
