Ellis Gene Ahart, 80, was born January 26, 1931 in Miller County, and passed
away February 3, 2011 at his home in St. James. He is the son of James and
Susan (Dake) Ahart. On June 9, 1956 he was united in marriage to Faye L.
Lawson. To this union two children were born, a daughter and a son.
He served our country in the U.S. Navy from December 1951 to December 1955,
aboard the DE 220 Francis M. Robinson on which he attained 2nd class. After
returning home he worked at Kroger's store for a while in Peoria, Illinois
and for Cupples Products in Maplewood. After that he became a truck driver
for 30 years retiring from MacDonnell Douglas in 1993. He moved to St. James
in 1994.
He was preceded in death by his mother July 30, 1976, a brother Wayne March
29, 1982, his father January 31, 1985, sister Ila Fay (Ahart) Rowden October
17, 1999, a brother-in-law, Junior C. Rowden June 10, 2000, and a
sister-in-law Marie (Rowden) Ahart December 18, 2005.
Survivors are wife Faye of the home in St. James; a daughter Pamela (Ahart)
Day and husband Lonnie of Grubville; son Kevin Ahart and wife Robin of St.
James; six grandchildren Tammie, Kristy, Alisha, Mark, Heather and Kevin
Jr.; one step-granddaughter Joanna, six great-grandchildren Cody, Keighlee,
Colton, Trenton, Jacob and Braxton; two step-great-great grandchildren Logen
and Marissa, which he loved all very dearly. He is also survived by one
brother Dallas Ahart and wife Lelia of St. Clair, along with lots of nieces,
nephews, and friends.
His hobbies were hunting, fishing and camping. Ellis was a member of First
Assembly of God Church in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services for Ellis Gene Ahart were held Saturday, February 5, 2011
at James and Gahr Mortuary in St. James with Rev. Mick Thrasher officiating.
He was laid to rest at Dake Cemetery near Iberia with Full Military Honors.
All arrangements are under the direction of James and Gahr Mortuary of St.
James.
