Stephen A. Kachmar served as a Private and a Private 1st Class in the 60th Coast Artillery, United States Army during World War II.

He was a son of Michael or William and Mary Kachmar.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army on August 10, 1939.

He is listed as having been a Prisoner of War at Mukden (now Shenyang), China in World War II.

He died of non-battle injuries on January 22, 1943 at Mukden (now known as Shenyang), China.

His place of residence was listed as Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.

He was originally from Barnesboro, Pennsylvania.

He was interred in the Gettysburg National Cemetery on November 5, 1947.
