Funeral services for Dennis Wade will be held Saturday, January 30, 2010, at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Vivian, LA with Rev. Richard Beeman and Rev. Dustie Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Culbertson Cemetery near Farmerville, LA at 3:00 PM. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, January 29 at First Baptist, Vivian.
After Dennis graduated from college in 1949, he began his career in public education working in Louisiana and Texas until his retirement in 1989. He was actively involved with First Baptist Church of Vivian where he enjoyed fellowship with his many friends and fellow deacons. He also loved to hunt and fish with his "Over the Hill" gang.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Fred M. and A. O. Norris Wade, two brothers "Bo" and Glenn Wade, and infant sister Florence.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of sixty years Geraldean "Jerry" Forshee Wade; two children Keith Wade of Cypress, TX and Phyllis Brunner of Tyler, TX; six grandchildren Dr. Kerry Tynes and husband Jason, Kelly Adams and husband Mark, Chelsea Wade, Lindsey Wade, Chad Brunner, and Emily Brunner; and four great-grandchildren Dylan Tynes, Madison Tynes, Makayla Adams, and Morgan Adams. He is also survived by his sister, Edwina Hartwick as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be family members and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons and Bobby Shores Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church. Memorials may be sent to First Baptist of Vivian, 311 N. Pine, Vivian, LA 71082 or Culbertson Baptist Church, 3286 Hwy. 151, Farmerville, LA 71241.
