Mrs. W.A. Mattingly, 50, West Louisville, died at 8:15 p.m. (CST) [June 4, 1956] at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital after a lingering illness. She was born in West Louisville, January 30, 1906. She had lived in West Louisville her entire life. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Murray Murphy, St. Joseph, Mrs. Frank Schadler, Stanley, Mrs. William Blandford, Owensboro; four sons, William Jr., Herman, Louis & Robert Mattingly, all of St. Joseph; four sisters, Mrs. Joe Stuart, West Louisville, Mrs. Paul Phillips and Miss Birdie Ballard, Owensboro, and Mrs. Allen Rhodes. McQuady; three brothers, Merlin & Stuart Ballard, Owensboro, Joe Ballard, Rome; and 13 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. (CST) Thursday from St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, by the Rev. J.A. McAleer, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Prayers will be held at 7:30 p.m. (CST) Wednesday. The body is at the Delbert J. Glenn Mortuary.
