Stan was the son of Buford Stanley Shannon Sr. and Frances Van Jones Shannon. He married Nanette Odom on January 25, 1961 in Bellaire Texas. They had a daughter, Stacy (Rogers) and a son Clark Shannon. Stan was a avid pilot and over the years had been a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and was in charge of air operations for Nimitz events. A former Dallas resident, Stan and Nan moved to Fredericksburg 20 years ago.
