Joseph Loving Flint married Wade Hampton Hicks on 23 February 1886 in Fort Worth, Texas. There were nine children born into this union. The couple moved to the California Creek community when they first settled in Young County by 1884. Children born to this union were: Gentry J Flint, Mary Flint, Mable Flint, Neweta Flint, Frieda Flint, Edgar Flint, Joe L Flint, Jr, and Phillip Flint.

Miss Lizzie Lamar married J.L. Flint on 12 August 1912 at Graham, Texas, officiated by Judge E.W. Fry. Lizzie Flint filed for divorce from J.L. Flint in 1917 in Young County, Texas. There were two children born into this union - Farine and Spencer Boyd Flint.

He was Graham City Deputy Marshal. He owned and operated Flint's Livery Stable in Graham. The livery stable was in two different locations. He offered first-class teams and rigs, with or without drivers, day or night. Joseph and Wade Flint purchased from V.F. Gorrisseen and his wife Lots 17, 18, and 19 in Block No. 38 in Graham, Texas to build their home. The home was magnificent and used by the family until their deaths. The home was torn down to construct a parking lot. I enjoyed talking for hours with one of his daughters while she was alive and her memories.
