Samuel Tarbell(1697-1776), was the son of Thomas Tarbell(1667-1715) & his wife Elizabeth Woods((1665-1717), she was the daughter of Samuel Woods & his wife Alice Ruston of Groton, Massachusetts.

Samuel married on 12/19/1725 to Lydia Farnsworth(1706-1778), she was the daughter of Benjamin Farnsworth & his wife Mary Prescott.
Surveyor

Samuel's 2 brother's John(1695-) & Zachariah(1699-) & sister Sarah(1693-)were captured by Indians & taken to Canada.
John married a Indian girl & had children. One named John,Jr
came back to Chester, Vermont as a Road Surveyor. Brother Zachariah became a Chief in the St Regis tribe & his children's children are still found around that area. A 1/2 breed Indian was a signer of a treaty & was known by the name of Peter the Big Speak & was one of the Tarbell Children that were captured.[Boston Transcript 5/17/1922]
Sister Sarah Tarbell was taken away & presented to the French Convent called Sister's of Notre Dame. She was christian as Sister Sara Marguerite.

2. Anna Tarbell(1729-)married twice Moses Haskell & Peter Edes
3. Sybil Tarbell(1732-1863)married Jonathan Moors
4. Deborah Tarbell(1734-)married George Pierce
5. Martha Tarbell(1736-)married Edward Phelps
6. Sarah Tarbell(1740-1787)married Lieut Joseph Boynton
7. Mary Tarbell(1742-)married Samuel Reed
8. Samuel Tarbell(1746-1796)he was taken prisoner, accused
of being a dangerous Loyalist from 4/17/1777-1/10/1778
Released & joined Gov. John Wentworth's NH Volunteers
He died in poverty @ Groton, Massachusetts
