DAYTONA BEACH - Tommy H. Norris, 87, of South Segrave Street, a native of Live Oak, died Tuesday at Olds Hall-Good Samaritan Center.
Mr. Norris, a commercial fisherman, was a lifelong resident of Southeast Volusia County. An Army veteran of World War II, he was awarded two Purple Hearts. He attended Upper Room Chapel, Oak Hill, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1590 and the Disabled American Veterans Post 53. Mr. Norris was a preacher for the prison ministry for several years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing the harmonica and singing in church.
Survivors include a son, Butch, Muscatine, Iowa; a stepson, Steve Goodrich, Oak Hill; six daughters, Bonita Davis, Ormond Beach, Vera Futch and Toni Barlow, both of Oak Hill, Helen Stranis, Queens, N.Y., Donna Locke, Perry, Ga., and Linda Bass; a brother, O.L. "Nudge", New Smyrna Beach; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Upper Room Chapel, 159 N. Gaines St., Oak Hill, FL 32759. Settle-Wilder, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.
