Capt. Britton Clinton Tyler served as Capt., Troup County, February 8, 1830 - Sept. 19, 1936, War of 1812.

He was listed as a trader in the 1850 census in Murray County near Dalton, GA and City Tax Recorder.

The Tyler family refuged ahead of Sherman's Union forces to Cedar Bluff, AL and in 1870 were in Cherokee Co., AL. At this time, he was married to his 2nd., wife, Caroline and her children lived with the Tyler family. It was shortly after this they had moved to Texas.

The 1850 federal census for Murray Co., Georgia shows the value of his real estate owned as $1,500.

The 1860 federal census for Whitfield Co., Georgia shows the value of his real estate owned as $3,000 and the value of his personal estate as $100. It also shows the following person living in his dwelling:

McDaniel Strother, age 32, Master Brick Mason, value of real estate owned $2,000, value of personal estate $200, born in South Carolina
