Elizabeth Wilder (1774-1847) was born Elizabeth Griffin in Connecticut, the daughter of George Griffin and Eva Dorr. She married Montgomery Austin of New Hartford, Connecticut on 12 Oct 1800 in East Haddam, Conn. Montgomery was a merchant in New Hartford and a sheriff of Litchfield County. They had 3 children, Lucius Montgomery Austin in 1802, Elizabeth Griffin Austin in 1804, and Aaron Austin in 1806. Montgomery Austin died in 1808, age 30. Elizabeth Griffin Austin married John Wilder and continued to live in Connecticut, although all her children moved to Ohio. When John Wilder died, she moved to Ohio, where she died in 1847. She is buried beside her children and grandchildren.
