Mr. Matthew Michael O'Brien of Port Jervis, NY, a lifetime resident of the area, died Sunday, January 24, 2010, as a result of an automobile accident. He was 21.

He was born January 28, 1988 in Goshen, NY, the son of Michael and Colleen Fox O'Brien.

Matthew was a 2006 graduate of Port Jervis High School where he played on the Baseball Team. He was currently enrolled in Orange County Community College in the Criminal Justice Program.

Matthew was in the U.S. Naval Reserves in Saratoga Springs, NY.

A family statement reads: "Matt was a loving son, brother, nephew, and friend who will be missed dearly. Matt will be loved always and never forgotten. "From Matt, Love Matt"

Surviving are his mother and father, Michael and Colleen O'Brien, at home; sisters, Lauren O'Brien of Boston, MA and Erin O'Brien, at home; brothers, James O'Brien and his wife, Jennifer of Dallas, GA and Michael O'Brien of Jacksonville, FL; aunts and uncles: Cathleen and Leo Leger of Boston, MA, Maureen and Luis Class of Westtown, NY, Gottfried Fox, Jr. of Avon Springs, FL, Jeanne O'Brien of New Port Richey, FL, and Catherine and William Leigh of Port Richey, FL. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Gottfried and Helen Fox; paternal grandparents, Charles and Ruth O'Brien.

Friends may call at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis on Wednesday, January 27, from 4-7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 29, at 10 a.m. at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, with the Rev. Glenn Borne of the Calvary Bible Church in Port Jervis, NY officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Warwick, NY.
