He and his wife Gladys had a ceramic business called Glad-Lee Ceramics in Portland, Oregon. He would create and pour the molds and Gladys taught the ceramic classes. He was a master craftsmen in stain glass and wood carving. He loved to plant and grow flowers and vegetables. He studied Bonzai and had many trees that he worked with. He was a Veteran of WWII where he was wounded in France. He was an avid bowler. He was a member of the Elks and Eagles. He retired from the Army Corps. of Engineers.
