She was born in Pitt County and attended the local schools. She was a member of Little Creek FWB Church where she served as a Church Mother. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband, Lee Ernest Grimes Sr. of the home; four sons, Lee Ernest Grimes Jr, Stephen R. Grimes, Linwood A. Grimes and Bernard G. Grimes all of Greenville, NC; four daughters, Constance Jones of New Bern, NC, Bernadette Jones of Charlotte, NC, Denise Battle and Ilyene Dunn of Winterville, NC; step-daughter, Vera Barnes of Winterville, NC; one brother, Chester Stocks of Kinston, NC; one sister, Rosa Lee Moore of Grifton, NC; 25 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Little Creek FWB Church.
Interment in Red Hill Cemetery.
