Funeral services for Bertha Alice Bond, 93, of Emporia, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Emporia with Pastor Jayne Duncan conducting the service. Burial will be at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia. Mrs. Bond died on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor.

She was born on Feb. 6, 1916, in Emporia, the daughter of Edgar C. and Katie E. Brown Anderson.
She worked on their farm north of Plymouth, at Hallmark Cards manufacturing in 1953-1954, and as a secretary at Roosevelt High School and secretary for the dean of education at Emporia State University from 1956 to 1981.
She had been a member of the Saffordville Methodist Church, and currently was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emporia. She was a longtime 4-H leader in the Plymouth community. She was a member of the United Methodist Women Circle, the Plymouth, Bethel and Verdigris Valley Units, and the Retired Civil Service Group.
She married Morris Murdock Bond on May 3, 1935 in Emporia. He died on Nov. 9, 1995. Survivors include a son, Edgar L. Bond and wife Judy, Lawrence; a daughter, Janet A. Rediker and husband Jerry, of Emporia; four grandchildren, Karen Flanders, Scott Bond, Brett Bond, and Mark Rediker; eight great-grandchildren, Kelly Flanders, Kevin Flanders, Preston Bond, Justin Bond, Scott Bond Jr., Jennifer Winland, Mitchell Bond and Jacob Bond; and three great-great-grandchildren, Lucas, Madison and Kady Winland.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Jane Anderson, and three brothers, Lloyd Anderson, Edgar Anderson and Marion Anderson. Monday, January 25, 2010 ljworld
