Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Methodist Church in Colesburg for Martin Phelps, 60 formerly of Colesburg. He died of a heart attack Sunday night at his home in Berlin, WS.. Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery at Colesburg. The Clifton funeral home of Earlville is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Phelps was born at Colesburg May 15, 1903, the son of Wilbur and Stella Phelps. He was married to Carrie Derr of Earlville in 1924.
Before moving to Wisconsin 16 year ago he owned a feed store in Colesburg and operated a portable feed mill.
Surviving are his wife, Carrie; one son, Robert of Chicago, and four daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Jean) Roling of Colesburg, Mrs. Wayne (Sandra)Jolivette of Marshall, Wisc., Mrs. Jim (Elaine) Smith of Eau Claire, Wisc., and Mrs. carl (Opal) Kriesler of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.
Also surviving are four brothers, including his twin brother, Merton and Otto, both of Colesburg. Wilbur of Mason City and Levi of Cassville, Wisc., and four sisters, Mrs. Gordon (Opal) Lau of Waterville, Mrs. John (Sylvia) Jaster of Elkport, Mrs. Mary Cole of LaPorte City and Mrs. Leonard (Lucille) Kidds of Great Falls, Mont.
