H.W. Whitmire, 68, died at his home in Ivan, following an illness of several months. Mr. Whitmire was a native Texan and had made his home in Stephens County since 1879.
Survived by his widow; three sons - C.L. Whitmire of Woodson, A.C. Whitmire of Odessa, T.H. Whitmire of Odessa; two daughters - Mrs. E.B. Milam of Eliasville, Mrs. Day Stone of Dallas; five grandchildren; three brothers - M.H. Whitmire of Woodson, Ellis Whitmire and T.A. Whitmire of Portales, NM; three sisters - Mrs. L.A. Spain of Breckenridge, Mrs. L.P. Cunningham of Plainview; Mrs. Florence Houston of Oklahoma City.
Services were held at the graveside with Rev. John Weatherford officiating.
