Although Evart was born in Perry County, he grew up in Morgan, Coshocton, and Stark Counties.

He moved around a lot with his family.

He was an great fisherman and often provided his family with a nice fish for supper.

Around age 16, Evart ran away from home out West and had many adventures for almost a year.

After returning home, Evart worked at the Canton Patton and Manufacturing Steel Company as an Iron Molder for many years and during this time he developed silicosis.

Evart married Margaret Marie Schemansky Arndt on May 16, 1916, in the Courthouse in Canton, Ohio.

They were married by Judge Correll.

Evart and Margaret had nine children, four girls first and then five boys.

Around 1934, Evart lost his job at the steel company.

After that time, he worked part-time jobs whenever he could find them, but the silicosis had taken its toll and he had little energy.

His children one-by-one helped out the family financially the rest of his life.

Evart raised chickens, rabbits, and pigeons after they moved to East Canton.

He always kept the huge lawn mowed.

Evart loved watching sports on television and always read the newspaper from cover-to-cover.

He was very intelligent and could converse on any subject.

Evart died in Aultman Hospital's Emergency Room from a stroke.
