Obituary
William Johnson was born near Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania, April 5, 1835, and passed away November 25, 1919, aged 84 years, 7 months and 20 days.
Mr. Johnson was the youngest son of Levi and Sarah [Mason] Johnson. He came to Iowa in the fall of 1872. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth E. [llen Erwin] Bennett on January 1, 1873. To this union was born eleven children, [two of whom preceded him in death.] Nine children survive---Henry A., of Buffalo, Wyoming; William C., of Bedford, Jesse G., of Sheridan, Mo.; Charles F. and Milo V., of Blockton; Mrs. Ora Morris, of Barnard, Kansas; Mrs. Wm. Matheny, of Blockton; Mrs. Lon Nash, of Divide, Wyoming, and Mrs. James Dungy, of Sheridan, Mo. Mr.
Johnson also leaves nineteen grandchildren and a large circle of friends.
He was a good citizen, a kind husband and faithful father. He had high regard for the better things of life. The writer said to him: "I want that you trust in God and accept Jesus Christ as your Savior." He said: "There is nothing else I can do." A citizen, husband and father is gone. The times and places that knew him shall know him no more. He is Not for death's Mysteries
intervene until the resurrection morn.
Funeral services were held at the late residence Saturday afternoon at Saturday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. J. W. Harwood, pastor of the Blockton M. E. church, and interment was made in Rose Hill (later Blockton) cemetery.
