She met Thomas W Wilkes Jr, they got married at her parents house on October 22, 1865 in Fairfield, South Carolina, United States. Together, they had 10 children.
It is family tradition that Thomas Wilkes Jr, bought a farm near Salem Crossroads in Fairfield County and reared his family there, but it appears likely that this land was obtained through inheritance of his wife from her father as no record of Thomas Wilkes Jr buying land in Fairfield County is on file. There is a record In Fairfield County of a deed from Judge of Probate dated November 6, 1885 to TD Feaster for $720 a tract of land of 170 acres on the waters of Little River in the settlement of a claim of Frances C Yongue dated October 13, 1884 against Charles B Yongue and Thomas W Wilkes for one-third part of the land or for the assessment in lieu thereof one-third of the rents and profits from December 27, 1876. From the document it would appear that Thomas Wilkes Jr was living on the land that had belonged to his wife's family in 1876, and it is presumed that he continued to live on Yongue land or that he bought land nearby for which there is no deed of record. Salem Crossroads where Thomas Wilkes Jr, reared his family is located where Highway 215 crosses the highway from Newberry to Winnsboro, and about 14 miles west of the latter place.
Julia went to her heavenly home on September 27, 1930 in Blair, Fairfield, South Carolina, United States. She was 84 years old.
Her body was put to rest at Salem Presbyterian Church Cemetery at Fairfield, South Carolina, United States.
