JOHN PIMPERTON worked in Pinery Provincial Park for the Ontario (Canada) Department of Lands and Forests and Ministry of Natural Resources.

He started working in the park from its very earliest years in the late 1950s. He became part of the department's permanent staff in 1970 and served as park operations foreman and park warden. He retired in 1986.

John knew every inch of Pinery and helped to make it a great park. He planted many pine seedlings in the early years of the park's development. He also helped with the reforestation of Stag Island Provincial Wildlife Management Area in the St. Clair River and with the initial development of Clay Creek Provincial Park. He spent time on many forest fires crews in northern Ontario.

John was a quiet, unassuming member of the Pinery staff. He led his workers by example, was well organized and efficient and was respected by everyone.
