Funeral services for Augustus W. Alexander, whose death occurred Wednesday afternoon at Alexian Brothers' hospital, will be held at 3 o'clock Thursday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Rufus A. Lewis, 4334 Laclede avenue. After the services the body will be taken to the city crematory to be incinerated. Mr Alexander at the time of his death was 72 years old. He came to St. Louis in the early 50s and began the practice of law, rising speedily in his profession. His career, however was cut short about 1880 by an attack of paresis, which made him an invalid the remainder of his life. Mr. Alexander was also active in founding the St Louis public Library. (St. Louis Republic.)
The deceased was the father in law of the late Rufus A. Lewis, architect for the El Paso public library, who died in this city a few months ago. Mrs. Lewis at whose home her father died, resided here for a time after the death of her husband.
