Lisa Vander Esch, 19, of Ireton, died of a gunshot wound to the head last week Tuesday. Her husband Darwin Vander Esch, told investigating officers that the bullet came from a rifle that was discharged accidentally. His wife was playing with their 18 month old child in the yard of their home when she felled.

Local officials are being assisted in their investigation. An autopsy was performed on Wednesday but results were not released.

Services were held Friday at the Lebanon Christian Reformed Church, with Revs. Kenneth Eiten and Paul Siebeking officiating. Burial in the church cemetery under the direction of the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Mrs. Vander Esch, the former Lisa Hamstra, was born June 23, 1963 in Cherokee. She attended Ireton Schools. She married Darwin Vander Esch November 1, 1980, in Ireton. They lived near Ireton. She was a member of the Lebanon Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Jason Michael; her father John Hamstra; her mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Vander Hamm of Ireton; one brother, Lyle of Sioux City; two sisters, Lana and Lori, both at home; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit J. Vermeer of Boyden, and Mr. and Mrs. William Hamstra of Merrill, Iowa
