Press Release:
Another old settler has been called home in the person of Henry Chambers, whose death occurred Saturday night from diabetes and complication of the disease. He was 83 years of age, and has long been a resident of this vicinity., He is survived by his wife, and eight children. funeral services were Held Monday afternoon, Interment being at Oak Hill cemetery.
Note 1:
Born in New York, Henry is married to Miss Lydia Maria Curler on September 11, 1842 and their first child, Mary E. Chambers, is born about 1845 in New York.
Maria will be the mother of 9 more children: Martha A., William Henry, Alice, Susan Ellen, Perry Edward, Frances, Jacob, George W. and Charles E..
Note 2:
Ancestry.com records indicate that Henry Chambers enlisted in Company H. Iowa 7th Cavalry on October 1, 1864 at the age of 39. Mustered with the company on 23 October 1864 and mustered out of service on June 24 1865 at Leavenworth, Kansas.
Note 3: Census records indicate his occupation as a cooper.
