Sgt. S.A. Freeze was inboard the bomber B-24D, "The Sandman" and lost his life with nine other airman in Alta Badia, Italy.

In 1950, S/Sgt S.A. Freeze's remains were brought back to the United States for reburial. A funeral was conducted for him at the Zachary Taylor National Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.

Freeze was reported missing in action on 19 December 1943 and reported dead in 1947.

He was a graduate of Olney High school. He was selected most popular boy his senior year. S/Sgt S.A. Freeze was 19 years old at his death.

Survivors: parents; five brothers; five sisters.

S/Sgt. S. A. Freeze, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Freeze, Olney, attended Olney High. Entered AAC, 1942, trained at Sheppard Field, Texas and Fla. Served in Italy and Germany. Awarded Purple Heart. Killed in action over Augsurg, Germany, 1943.

Sgt. Freeze is actually buried at Louisville, Kentucky. This memorial marker is by his father's grave in the Jean cemetery.
