Martha Ann Goodmon Clark

Martha Ann (Goodmon) Clark was born in Monroe County, Kentucky, Feb 3, 1859 and died at Chetopa, Ks, Apr 20, 1911, after an illness of 5 years, being confined to her bed most of the time for about a year. She came with her parents to Miami County, KS in 1868 moved to Labette County in 1870 where she was united in marriage to Thomas W. Clark, Apr 1, 1877, at Edna. To this union were born 8 children, 3 dying in infancy, Mae, Annie B. and George T., those living are Mrs. Ida Eddy of Welch, OK, Harry A. Clark, Mrs Laura James, Mabel and Mattie. Besides her husband and children she leaves 4 grandchilden, 2 brothers, M.L. Goodmon, of Bristow and George Goodmon of Neodesha and one sister, Mrs. Stanford Spurgeon of Montana, Ks. She united with the New Light Church at Elm City when she was 16 years of age and when coming to Chetopa united with the Methodist Church. She was a member of Evergreen Rebekah Lodge, I.O.O.F. No. 197.
