J. V. Arnold, age 74, passed away Sunday morning, January 24, 2010, at the Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall, Missouri.
He was born near Warsaw, Missouri, on June 4, 1935, the son of Virgil and Gertrude Winterbower Arnold.
On November 8, 1958, he was united in marriage to Betty Ann Hutcheson. Following their marriage they made their home near Ionia, Missouri, moving to Marshall in 1960.
There he was employed as a farm hand for several different farmers in Saline County. He finally retired in 2007.
J. V. was a devoted husband and a loving father and grandfather, and was most happy to surround himself with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Eddie, who passed away at the age of seven. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Lewis Arnold and one sister, Mattie.
J. V. is survived by his wife, Betty Ann, of the home, two daughters, Edna Simmons, of Marshall, Missouri, and Marie Colwell, of Moberly, Missouri, one son, Ray Arnold, also of Marshall, twelve grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Other survivors include one sister, Dorothy Kurth, of Carrollton, Missouri, and a twin brother, D. D. Arnold, of Marshall, several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home in Lincoln, Missouri. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Warsaw. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
