George Waddington who lived near Conway, died September 28, 1956, after a long illness.

Mr. Waddington was born in Carlisle, England, on November 18, 1894. He was the son of the late William and Barbara Colthard Waddington. He came to the United States with his parents aat the age of three. His parents settled in Chicago for several years where his father was a locomotive engineer. The family moved to a farm near Conway. His father continured to operated the place up to the time of his death. His mother lived for several years longer.

George Waddington continued to lived on the farm but was employed as an engineer at the first electrical power plant in Conway, the former Quattlebaum electric Company, later the South Carolina Public Service Authority. In recent years he was a substation operator for the utilities.

He was a member of the Conway Lodge 65, AFM, and the Kingston Presbytrian Church.

George Waddington was married first to the late Frances Elizabeth McCracken. His second wife was Mary Kathleen McMillan. There was one son, Donald Waddington, by the first marriage. There is now a grandson, Donald Waddington Jr. Surviving George Waddingtin is also two cousins Tom Coulthand of Montreal Canada, and Hadley H. Lee of Conway. There are also other cousins in the old country.
