Alice M. Garnhart, age 80, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1957 and formerly of Limon, Colorado passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the Sunny Vista Living Center. She had retired after serving as a cafeteria worker in District 11 at Buena Vista, Washington and Whittier Elementary Schools. Alice Marie Borst was born on September 29, 1929 in Limon to Harold and Leilah (Wills) Borst. She was a 1947 graduate of Colorado Springs High School. She married William R. Garnhart on October 12, 1953 in Manitou Springs. Mrs. Garnhart loved kids. She was a regular at her children's and grandchildren's sporting events. She was a Sky Sox fan who especially loved spring baseball. She enjoyed baking, gardening and attended Circle Drive Baptist Church. She will be best remembered for her devotion to her family. Alice is survived by her two daughters: Linda (husband, Tony) D'Amico; Barbara (husband, Marvin) Relaford and her son: Rick (wife, Ruth) Garnhart. She is also survived by a sister: Irma Paris and a brother: Les Borst, all of Colorado Springs. She had six wonderful grandchildren: Robbi, Micki, Kenny, Ann, Kate and Kaylee and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers. A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Funeral Services will take place at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 22 at Circle Drive Baptist Church, 801 N. Circle Drive. Entombment will follow at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Angels.
