Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the local EUB church for Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Leach, 80, who died Sunday afternoon at 1:30 at Brokaw hospital, Normal, following an extended illness. Rev. Loren Miller, pastor of the church, was in charge of the service, assisted by Rev. L.A. Whitsell of Prairie Chapel, near Farmer City.
Burial was in Lexington cemetery. The body was brought to the Musselman funeral home in Lexington following her death.
Mrs. Leach was born in Doe Hill, Virginia, Feb. 24, 1873, a daughter of S.J. and Mary Alice Blagg. She was married to W.W. Goddard at Lexington June 14, 1892, and later married Joseph Leach. She was a member of the EUB church.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Blanche Mowris, of St. Louis; a brother, Thomas Blagg, Bondurant, Ia.; three sisters, Mrs. Belle Snyder, Mt. Solon, Va., Mrs. Ethel Wistleman, Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. Myrtle Hibbs, Secor; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her husband, four sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
Miles Ward sang "In The Garden" and "Sunrise" at the service. He was accompanied by Mrs. Helen Burri
