WYOLENE GRANT NICHOLS, 71, of Valdosta died Saturday, April 30, 2005 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on September 6, 1933 in Valdosta to the late Wilde C. (W.C.) and Eunice Davis Grant and was a lifelong resident of Valdosta. Mrs. Nichols was an active member of the Northside Baptist Church where she had served as secretary for Vacation Bible School, Chairman of the Flower Committee and worked with the youth. She was the Drum Major for the Valdosta High School Marchin Cats for three years graduating in the Valdosta High Class of 1950. Mrs. Nichols had been a substitute teacher for the Valdosta City School System and a Pink Lady at SGMC. She was a member of the Holly Garden Club where she had served as treasurer and as rental chairman, was a member of the Designing Women Garden Club and the Valdosta Red Hat Society.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Norman C. Nichols, Sr. of Valdosta, three daughters and two sons in law, Debbi and Charles Steinberg of Valdosta, Penny and Richard Gustafson of Newtown, CT., Nanci Nichols Burgess of Valdosta, three sons and one daughter in law, Cliff Nichols of Valdosta, Grant and Tara Nichols of Lake Park, Jason Nichols of Valdosta, grandchildren and their spouses, Chad and Jennie Steinberg of Tifton, Christy and Jeremy Allbritton of Valdosta, Melissa and Jeff Fossett of Portland, OR., Andrea Gustafson, Daniel Gustafson both of Newtown, CT., Bailey Burgess, Lindsay Nichols, Shelby Nichols, Lauren Nichols all of Valdosta, Karlee Nichols, Andy Nichols both of Lake Park, two great grandchildren, Blaine Fossett of Portland, OR., Trey Steinberg of Tifton, one brother, W. C. Grant, Jr. of Arlington, VA., one sister, Betty Sue Martin of Valdosta, one brother in law and sister in law, Marvin and Ann Nichols of Valdosta, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Tuesday at Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Elick Bullington and Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
