The former Theora Hughes was born July 12, 1920, in Pickford to Albert Hughes and Martha (Hancock) Hughes. A lifelong Pickford resident, Theora was a Pickford High School graduate.
She married Gerald Alexander Harrison on July 22, 1939.
She was the bookkeeper for her husband's plumbing and heating business. Theora was very active member of the Pickford Presbyterian Church where she served as church treasurer for many years. She enjoyed gardening and was an accomplished seamstress. She sewed many bride and bridal party dresses. Theora also sewed countless quilts both on her own and with the Pickford Quilters. She was a quiet, kind lady who will be missed by her family and community.
Theora Harrison was survived by her children, Venitta (Gerald) Hill of Cedarville, Michigan, Gerald T. (Betty Jean) Harrison of Pickford, Kathleen (Steven) Gerrish of Sault Ste. Marie, and Kandice (David) Huyck of Milford, Michigan; ten grandchildren, Gregory Hill, Gretchen (William) Schafer, Kurtis (Renee) Hill, Rhonda (Dale) Tallman, Michael (Sandra) Harrison, Courtney (Matt) Julien, Steven (Nicole) Gerrish, Marcus (Susan) Huyck, Christina (Adam) Wiesley, and Michelle Huyck; and thirteen great grandchildren, Kylie, Nicole and Katrina Schafer, Jessica and Megan Hill, Sara, Jonathan and Emily Tallman, Shane, Samantha and Sabrina Harrison, Alexandra Huyck, and Anna Wiesley. Also surviving is one sister, Jeanne Carnes.
Theora was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Harrison in 2008; parents; brother, George Hughes; sisters, Minerva Wise, Irene Izzard, Myrtle Hughes, Gertrude Chambers, Cora Hughes, Thelma Hewer, Marie Harrison, and Marion Harrison; and granddaughter, Tracy Harrison.
