MOTHER

For 44 years a resident of Pickford Township, Mrs. Mary Jane McDowell, 85, wife of Leonard McDowell, collapsed on the street here at four o'clock Saturday afternoon, Feb 13, 1932 and died a short time later at her home. Death was a result of heart trouble.

Mr and Mrs. McDowell were returning from the funeral of Mrs. Haines when Mrs. McDowell was stricken. She was taken home but died before the doctor arrived.

Two years ago Mr. and Mrs. McDowell were in an automobile accident in the Sault and Mrs McDowell had been in ill health since that time.

She was born May 1, 1865 in Stanley, Huron County, Ontario. She was married to Leonard McDowell May 2, 1888 in Westfield, Ontario on May 24 in the same year they came to Pickford township and resided on a farm two miles north and six miles west of Pickford until recently when they moved into the village.

She is survived besides her husband by two sisters Mrs. McGowen M. Dunbar and Mrs. Emma English; by two brothers Alec and William Mitchell all of Rudyard two daughters Mrs. Gertrude Thompson and Mrs. Della Bawks and two sons Elmer and Orton all of Pickford. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren.

She was a member of the Pickford Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Methodist church here the Rev. W.W. Lowe officiating. Burial will be at Cottle Cemetery.
