The funeral of Alexis R. Montgomery was held at 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon from the First Presbyterian church. It was the largest funeral held in Decatur in a long time. The church was crowded and many stood outside. Friends were there from all parts of the city. Dr. Penhallegon paid a beautiful tribute to the life of Mr. Montgomery. Never was a greater profusion of beautiful floral tributes seen at a funeral in Decatur. The platform was almost completely covered with them.
