On the 1880 Census living in Cleveland, Lucas Co., Iowa. Listed with him is an Edwin Jaqua. They are 21 and 27 respectively. Hiram is shown as clerk in store, Edwin is a merchant. Both are listed as boarders along with many other people, possibly in a boarding house although this is not specified. The parents birth locations are the same for both.

Hiram married Ida Nov. 29 1888.
