Ackel was a native of Sunset, Louisiana. He was born on October 20, 1938. He left this world peacefully to join our Lord on January 22, 2010.
He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and loyal friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, boxing, fishing, foreign affairs and his many travels.
His work brought him to many countries throughout the world to include: Venezuela, Columbia, Ecuador, Trinidad, Egypt, Algeria, and most recently Syria, where he has worked for the last twenty years.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jackie Savoie; two daughters, one son, ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers, and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam Savoie and Bernadette Prejean Savoie; sister, Katrina Lecompte; mother and father-in-law, Odon Bourque and Anna Lee Bourque; and an infant son.
