Arthur J. Hassett Jr. Arthur J. Hassett Jr. DUXBURY Arthur J. Hassett Jr., MD, age 90, of Duxbury and Humarock Beach, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at the Signature Healthcare/Brockton Hospital. He had been a longtime resident of Brockton and Naples, Florida. Born and raised in Weymouth, Dr. Hassett was the son of the late Arthur J. and Elizabeth M. (Costello) Hassett. Dr. Hassett graduated from Boston College in 1940 and Tufts Medical School in 1944, and completed his residency at Boston City Hospital. He served as a Captain in the Army at U.S. Forces Headquarters in Vienna, Austria. Following his discharge Dr. Hassett settled in Brockton and served as Chief of Obstetrics for over 40 years and also as Chief of Staff at Brockton Hospital. During his career he delivered over 11,000 babies and was treasured by his many patients. Dr. Hassett most enjoyed his summers spent at Humarock Beach with his family, and enjoyed an active retirement in Florida. He was a life-long supporter of Boston College athletics. He was blessed with a close and extensive group of friends and colleagues. He was the devoted husband of the late Margaret Peg (Donovan) Hassett and was the former husband of the late June Arnone. He is survived by his children Marybeth Lynch of Holbrook, Suzanne Martin and her husband Billy of Hanover, Patricia Greenfeld and her husband Norman of Hanover, Barbara Mozinski and her husband Bruce of Charlton, MA and Arthur J. Hassett, III and his wife Claire of Hanover. He leaves 13 adoring grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, his sisters-in-law Lillian Burrill of Brockton, Carol Holmberg of Whitman and Theresa Hassett of Maryland, his brothers in- law Jim Benoit of Florida and Robert Mitchell of Connecticut and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late John P. Hassett. Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123), Brockton, Monday at 10 a.m. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church 439 West St., Brockton at 11 a.m. Burial in Melrose Cemetery.
