Mr. Pridgen was born January 9, 1935, in Burgaw, NC, the son of the late Emerson Joseph Pridgen, Sr. and Mary Newton Pridgen. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Batton and a son, Danny Carter.
Mr. Pridgen was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife of thirty-five years, Hattie Merritt Pridgen of Wilmington, NC, his children Michael Pridgen and wife, Elizabeth of Birmingham, Al, Sherri Cook and husband, Steve of Charlotte, NC, Michael Carter and wife, Wendy of Wilmington, NC, Eric Pridgen and wife Amber of Raleigh, NC, Angela Petree and husband, Johnny of Winston-Salem, NC, son-in-law Roger Batton of Birmingham, Al, one sister and three brothers, thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2004, in Oleander Memorial Gardens by Rev. J.D. Herchenhahn.
Pallbearers will be Charles Pridgen, William Keith Pridgen, Frankie Pridgen, Randy Pridgen, David Autry and Jeff Autry.
