Funeral services for Mrs. Hester May Young, 81, who died at 3 pm, Jan. 15, at her home on Houston Star Rt., were conducted at 10 am, Wednesday, Jan. 17, from the Thorn Church of God with the Rev. Dempsey Neese officiating.
Interment was in the Elzy Cemetery with Memorial Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Eugene Vanlandingham, John Callahan, Bily Whitt, Richard Criddle, Donald Criddle and Doyle Criddle.
A native of Calhoun County, Mrs. Young had lived here for 16 years. Her death was attributed to a heart attack.
She was born in Calhoun County July 9, 1886, the daughter of Anderson Callahan and Hester Cook Callahan. She was a member of the Thorn Church of God. She was the widow of the late Oscar F. Young.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Bendor of Wenatchee, Wash., Mrs. Charlie Carter of Houston and Mrs. Noel Criddle of State Springs, MS; three sons, Henry Young of Galveston, TX, Thomas Young of Berginsville, NJ and Olan Young of Bigierville, PA; a brother, Clyde Callahan, Sr., of Houston and two sisters, Mrs. Lanie Hendon of Clarksdale, MS and Mrs. Allie Whitt of Houston. Sixteen grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren also survive.
