Mr. Lewis was born on June 19, 1916 in Horry County, a son of the late Arn Dewitt and Mary Ida Faulk Lewis. He attended Horry County Schools and was a farmer. Mr. Lewis was a WW II Veteran serving in the US Army from 1940-1945. He was a proud recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Mr. Lewis participated in the invasion of Normandy and the Crossing of the Rhine. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, John Lewis, James Thurmond "Sherb" Lewis, Lloyd Lewis and Vance Lewis; and sisters, Grace Todd and Minnie Causey. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Loris Extended Care Facility for the love and compassion they extended to Mr. Lewis and family.
Surviving Mr. Lewis is a special niece, Patsy Deal and husband Jerry of Conway; a special nephew, James Lewis and wife Barbara; one sister-in-law, Maxine Lewis of Myrtle Beach and many other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel at noon on Saturday with Rev. Mike Kinlaw officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
