Obituary-Alice Shepard Hayes--
Funeral services for Mrs. Manley Hayes were conducted Thursday at the Ong Methodist Church with Rev. Harry Gleim in charge. A double duet, Mrs. Harry Wight, Mrs. Will Herrick, Mrs. Fred Zetterman and Mrs. Oscar Danielson, sang two songs, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset" accompanied by Mrs. Ralph McCloughan.

Pallbearers were Rolland Lewein, Loren Urbauer, Dale Mosley, Gaylord Gowen, Gordon Gowen and Gerald Andersen. Burial was made in the Ong Cemetery.

Mrs. Hayes died Tuesday at a Scottsbluff hospital. She had been seriously ill for some time.

Alice Maxine Shepard, one of six children of Thomas F. Shepard and Jeannette Shepard, was born December 15, 1930, in Lincoln, and departed this life Sept 27, 1955 in the West Nebraska General Hospital in Scottsbluff, age 24 years, nine months and 12 days.

Most of her life was spent in Lincoln where she attended Northeast high school. She was married October 8, 1949 to Nels Manley Hayes and the young couple lived for most of the time in Lincoln until February, 1955, when they moved to near Gering, To this union two children were born, Belva Jean, now four years old, and Deborah Kay, who died in infancy.

Although in ill health for several months previous to her passing, she was always patient and cheerful and remained a wonderful wife and mother to the last.

She is survived by her husband and daughter; her mother, Mrs. Adolph Dinges of Lincoln; her father, Thomas Shepard, Fort Laramie, Wyo.; two brothers, Duane Shepard, Apple Valley, Calif., and Wesley Shepard, Lincoln; two sisters, Mrs. Phyllis Hughes and Mrs. Betty Kellogg, both of Lincoln; her maternal grandfather, James F. Little, Lincoln, and many other relatives and a host of friends,

Many relatives from Lincoln attended the last rites.
