VEGA NEWSMAN DIES SUDDENLY HEART ATTACK CLOSES CAREER OF SENTINEL EDITOR EARLY TODAY.

Joplin, the son of James T. Owen and Laura Jones, died suddenly at 12:30 Monday morning at his home in Vega. The obit says that death resulted from a heart attack, and reports that Joplin had apparently been in excellent health. He spent most of last week attending the Tri-State Fair in Amarillo.

The obit notes that Joplin (33) was the editor and owner of the Vega Sentinel.

The obits says that Joplin was a resident of Vega for 25 years, had been associated with the Vega Sentinel for the last 15 years. According to the obit, Joplin was an alumni of Wayland College, a World War veteran, and a member of the Masonic lodged.

Joplin was married to Maxine Green. Joplin and Maxine had the following children: James Herbert and Evelyn Maxine.

The obit lists the following survivors: his wife and two children; his father and mother, Col. and Mrs. J. T. Owens, all of Vega.

The obit notes that funeral arrangements had not been announced Monday afternoon but that N. S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Home was in charge.
