William D. “Denny” Bartley, age 92, passed away on Friday March 22, 2019 at his home in Tipton with his family by his side. He was born on February 19, 1927 in Clinton County, IN to Jack and Lola (Wax) Bartley. On March 24, 1951 he married Reita Porter in Rossville, IN and they were together for 65 years prior to Reita‘s passing on July 23, 2016.
Denny was a member of the Nazarene Church in Frankfort and the American Legion Post 46 in Tipton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII as a Military Policeman. After the service he went to work for the railroad before joining and retiring from Steel Parts in Tipton on March 1, 1989 after 34 years.
Survivors include his children; Kent (Trinna) Bartley and Joan (Michelle Mendenhall) Lynch. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Felicia Bartley, Angela (Steve) Stromberger, Lora (Dave) Kinyon, Hollie Lynch and his great grandchildren; Clayton Lynch, Jonathan Lynch, Bailey Stromberger, Bryson Kinyon, Stella Stromberger, Katelyn Kinyon and Gavin Kinyon.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Reita, a son Chip, a grandson Jason Bartley, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 to 11 AM on Wednesday March 27, 2019 at the Porter Funeral Home located at 726 East North Street in Tipton, IN. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on the same date at Porter‘s. Pastor Jerry Markins will be officiating with interment in Tipton’s Fairview Cemetery.
