He was born Jan. 11, 1926, in Columbus Grove to Bert E. and Gladys V. Holt Brogan, who preceded him in death. On April 19, 1946, he married Eva JoAnne "Jo" Craun, who survives. They were married for 63 years.
Mr. Brogan retired June 1, 1988, as a high lift driver from Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant, after 29 years. He had also worked at the Lima Tank Depot for more than 14 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, Lima, and American Legion Post 191, Spencerville. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending mornings with his buddies at Kewpee and Pat's Donuts & Crème.
Survivors also include two sons, William M. (Patricia) Brogan Sr., of Piqua, and John D. (Kim) Brogan, of Irving, Texas; three daughters, Sharon T. (William) Musselman, of Harrod, Connie Jo (Jerry) Spyker, of Greer, S.C., and Pamela M. (Howard) Dailey, of Tallahassee, Fla.; a brother, Thomas Brogan, of Lima; 13 grandchildren, Brian (Melanie) Musselman, Troisanne (David) Spees, Tasha (Ken) VanNimwegen, Tanya (Rob) Miller, William M. (Melissa) Brogan Jr., Chad (Erica) Brogan, Michelle (Shane) Green, John (Maria) Dailey, Jennifer Carter, Jessica Dailey, John D. Brogan II, Jewelie (Bernie) Dunlap and Brittany (D.J.) Starek; 23 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Danielle, Zach, Kyle, Corey, Caitlyne, Alexis, Nicholas, Mary J., Brock, Andrew, Ashley, Cole, Bailey, Luke, Brennon, Leanne, Amber, Jasmine, Mary A., Taylor, Chelsea and Alyssa; and his beloved cat, Cloud.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Todd Spyker; a brother, Charles Brogan; and three sisters, Waneta Suggs, Doris Luke and Rosa Cashatt.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Chaplain Dick Coon will officiate.
