Pioneer Archer County resident, who had lived in Archer County 85 years and in Megargel for 54 years. He died Wednesday, March 6, 1957 at Olney, Young County, Texas.
A retired farmer and rancher, he was born January 3, 1874 in Bentonville, Benton County, Arkansas. He was married in Archer County on April 1, 1895 to Mary Susan Wilson, who died in 1947. He came to Archer County in 1886.
He was a member of the Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. Funeral services were held in the Megargel Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Howard and Charlie Colgan of Megargel; three daughters, Mrs. Lola Beaty of Archer City, Mrs. T.W. Blewett of Big Spring and Mrs. J.M. Shawver of Megargel; one sister, Mrs Ella Roberson of Archer City. 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
