Beloved sister of Sister M. Francesca Paleczny, SSND; devoted cousin of Sister Mary Michael Psutka, SSND.
PALECZNY, Sister Joanette, School Sister of Notre Dame - Died at Notre Dame Convent, Waterdown, Ontario, on July 19, 2004 in the 70th year of her religious profession. Predeceased by her parents, John and Frances (Kunda) both born in Poland, her brothers, Michael, John, Thomas, Joseph, Henry, Ralph and George and her sisters, Amelia Grace, Adele Nespal and Dorothy Paleczny. Sadly missed by her sisters, Sister Francesca Paleczny, SSND of Waterdown, Rita Mroz and her brother Arthur and her devoted nieces and nephews. Sister Joanette taught in Kitchener, and Walkerton and was principal at St. John's and Holy Family Schools in Hamilton and St. Benedict's in Cambridge. Following her years in education, she was pastoral associate at St. Dominic's Parish, Oakville from 1977-1993. When Sister Joanette retired, she used her many talents to assist various groups. Her pleasant, cheerful manner brightened the lives of the seniors she visited. Due to ill health she moved to Waterdown in 2001. Visitation is at Notre Dame Convent, Waterdown on Wednesday, July 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wake Service is Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place in the chapel at Notre Dame Convent, Waterdown on Thursday, July 22 at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Notre Dame Convent Cemetery.

Notre Dame Convent Cemetery, Snake Road, Waterdown, was closed in 2019 and all remains were moved to Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.
